We have now purchased two properties on the Costa Almeria, Spain.  Working on the theory that we are Brits abroad, and we can't leave our brains at the airport, we decided early on to have a defect report as both properties were new build.  We spoke to several 'snaggers' by phone before deciding to use Roy Howitt of www.inspectahomespain.com. 

 

The whole experience of organising a defect visit was one of the least stressful aspects of the property purchase, although I would be lying if I said my heart rate hadn't increased on reading Roy's subsequent detailed report.  However, Roy was very patient in pointing out that nearly 70% of the defects were common to most properties, and were easily remedied.  We subsequently found, on speaking to other owners on the community, that our 'snagging' list was addressed much earlier than those who did not have it submitted by a professional.  All in all, using Roy Howitt's services has not only saved us financially the cost of flying over to snag ourselves and possible future problems with the builder, but his extensive knowledge of the Spanish purchasing system has also saved us much anguish and heartache.
